Castle Point Lookout

Overlooking Sinatra Drive and the Hudson River, Castle Point is the highest elevation in Hoboken at 100 feet. This green-veined, serpentine rock overlook was mentioned in the navigator’s log of Henry Hudson's ship, Half Moon, as it journeyed up the river in 1609.

A favorite photo op spot for visitors, this scenic location offers sweeping views of New York City, the Hudson River, the New York Harbor and the Brooklyn Bridge.

The American flag and the beloved Stevens cannon stand prominently at this site. The cannon was excavated in 1888 from a site in Hoboken known as the “Elysian Fields.” It was believed to have been brought over from France during the American Revolution. It was placed on Castle Point where the Stevens family once resided, and is still there as a protector of the Point.
